🌳The common knowledge is Ash dieback is destroying our ash trees in England. Which is devastating for our natural landscape. An amazing way to combat this deadly disease is by pollarding ash

🌳Pollarding has shown to maintain the tree’s structural integrity whilst new regrowth can be vigorous (Marciulyniene et al., 2017).

🌳It is crucial that we preserve these precious trees at all times and come as close to the bottom of the mitigation hierarchy and minimise losses.

🌳In this case these pollards have opened up small glade pockets in the woodland allowing sunlight in which increase the abundance of ground flora. Then follows a variety of species such as Pearl-boarded Fritillary, Marsh Fritillary and several other moths and butterflies (butterfly-conservation.org, 2024)
